A team by professor V. Li of University of Michigan in the US conducted a comprehensive and in-depth study on PVA-ECC material (Engineered Cementitious Composites is disorderly distribution short fiber reinforced cement composite with super toughness). According to characteristics of PVA fiber, he invented “flexible cement”, allowing cement products to have super ductility and capacity of absorbing energy, which largely improved cracking and seismic resistance performance.
